Some of the balms available at Drift Away.....Indi-ssentials product range

At Drift Away Therapies we stock the product range Indi-ssentials.

We've a range of products to help you relax, some of our more popular products are the candles and our range of balms.  We've recently added to our balms with a Step Lightly balm and a calm balm.

Our Step Lightly balm contains essential and Ayurvedic oils known for their de-stressing and and anxiety reducing qualities and contains Brahmi which is known to reduce cortisol.

Our calm balm is a lovely blend of Lavender and Roman Chamomile, a wonderfully soothing and relaxing blend that helps you drift off and find some inner calm and tranquillity, ideal to use before bed.

Our range of candles also helps to set the mood, relaxing or invigorating and creating clarity depending on what you are looking for.

Our lavender and star anise candle is particularly popular in India and helps to relax and de-stress which adding that spicy tone through the use of star anise.  We have our Kashmiri Lavender candle and another popular candle is our touch of zing candle, which helps to create an invigorating feeling within the space through the use of lemongrass, lavender and lime.

You can check out the samples at your next massage session, ask for a product brochure or drop me an email to place an order or for further information. dannie@driftawaytherapies.co.uk

Drift Away Reopening on 24th July - What to expect!

Hi All.  Firstly it will be wonderful to be back with you all soon enough.  I know many of you have booked in and i know and respect that some of you are undecided.  I also know that many of you don't know what to expect.  Times are different right now and our former way of working needs to be adapted to allow for different protocols to be put in place.

Fortunately i got to put a lot of these practices in place in India whilst massaging there and got to work out what was or wasn't the most efficient way.

WHAT TO EXPECT

It is me under all the PPE!
I've attached a picture of what you can expect to see me looking like.....As you can see.....It's very dark clothing, very different from the bright  clothes i wear in India!

I am under all that PPE stuff!  Me wearing this may look a bit surprising at first and a bit worrisome but the reasons for wearing this, is as a means of safety and reassurance that will hopefully help you switch off knowing that high standards are being maintained throughout.  The usage of the PPE will be monitored in accordance with Govt guidelines

The visor - this is a Government advisory.  I may interchange this between my goggles and my n95 mask (which is what i wore in India).  Both are effective and so i will work out which one works best.

My mask/face covering - now i love these masks and as an allergy and sinus sufferer they are helping me immensely! So don't worry about the mask....and actually now I've found them to be so beneficial i may wear them more in the future anyway.  I have a whole range of masks and even made my own ones in India.😊

Apron and waterproof trousers.  The apron and waterproof trousers are both robust vinyl which means they are easy to wipe down, kill any virus off the clothing and leave my clothes squeaky clean. That ,means it's not being transferred from one home to the next. Don't worry about me being hot!  I maybe a little hot but it is nothing compared to the 40 degree temperatures i was massaging in with only ceiling fans.  I will survive, I'm used to it!

Bedding
As you can see in the picture, the table looks a little different.  The table will be covered in a vinyl sheet that will be wiped down after every session. This goes on top of the table but underneath the couch cover and sheets etc.  The pillows are covered in the vinyl wipe-able material and i have some new face cradle pillows that are already encased in wipe-able material.  Don't worry one of my dozens of pillows will go over this to make it more comfy.  No one wants to stick to plastic!  As has always been the case, the bedding is changed for every household and that will obviously be the case. The peacock sheets will be back out in force!

You are welcome to use your own bedding if preferred.  If that's the case, please use old bedding that you are happy to get oil on as the oil can stain.

Cleaning process
At the end of the session, it will be necessary for me to do my 'big clean'!  That means i will need to wipe down my table and all equipment used during the session.  I will have already brought my cleaning bits with me and it will add on an extra 5 minutes to my packing away session.  I tell you this so you are not alarmed when you see me whip out my cloth.....sadly i will only be cleaning my things and can not do a full clean for you at the same time!😉

SUMMARY
When i turn up, I will be wearing my mask and goggles (I do like them!) and will put the visor on only at the start of the treatment.

I will not be taking your temperature.  It goes without saying that you know to take care of your own health and as grown adults you don't need me to be temperature checking you.  You know if you are well enough for a treatment and just as you trust me to carry out the treatment in good conscience I know i can trust the same of you.

Any questions, please ask and i hope this gives people a greater insight into what to expect.  If you are worried about all the PPE kit, if i have learnt one thing massaging in India, once you close your eyes and allow yourself to switch off and allow the tension to be released from the muscles, the music setting the scene, catching up on all goings on (yes, i can still talk with the mask on and happy to do so!) then all that does fade into insignificance!

Massage can resume!

Wonderful news is that massage treatments have been allowed to resume.  Strict Government guidelines are to follow this post.  I am currently finishing up my quarantine and then treatments will begin from 24th July.

The 24th July is already set aside for clients who are in the more vulnerable category so that all clients can still receive their treatments.

Please keep an eye on the blog or Drift Away facebook page for more info and available appointments.  You can also get in touch to book in advance and check what's available

Experience our one to one meditation sessions

Meditation is often one of those things we plan to get round to but we find it hard to prioritise or we struggle to do on our own and need a little guidance. Perhaps we're unsure 'how to' meditate or similar to an exercise class, we want someone to meditate along with.

In the one to one meditation session we look at several forms of meditation so that you can experience several different ways of meditating. We begin with a breath awareness meditation, followed by a zen stillness meditation which is a form of meditation often practiced by others and can take some time to master, then a visual guided meditation where you can switch off and listen to me guide you into a deeper state and where suggestions are used that can support and help you in your day to day life.

The one to one session will provide you with an introduction to the meditations and the skills to practice this on your own. A pre-recorded recording for the breath awareness will be sent out after the session so that you can continue to practice this at home on your own to develop your meditation practice further.

The sessions can be taken in person in your own home or via skype.

Session price £25 home visit or £20 online zoom call.   Or 4 home sessions for £90 or 4 zoom sessions for £75.  (paid in advance).

The meditation session itself is 1 hour total with some extra time for discussing any questions you may have or coming round from the meditation itself.

Silence the mind, centre yourself, experience the serenity within so you can hear the whispering of the soul.

July massage updates

Happy Summer Solstice! Happy Fathers Day.

Today is a very wonderful day with so much going on and here in India there will be the solar eclipse!

Thanks to those who did come to the meditation group or who expressed interest. It's a small group but hopefully we can grow in time.

I haven't posted another date as i am planning to be back in the UK in July for various reasons. I will naturally be back massaging, once quarantining is done and massage is allowed to resume.

Having continued to massage during these virus times, I have seen how in need people have been and how massage has really helped reduce the stress and helped alleviate the added tension, so i look forward to being able to help people in any way that i can. This virus has really taken a toll on us all physically and mentally and for those who want a massage, I'm honoured to provide it.

Have a wonderful Sunday and i will update everyone in due course.

With the world going online....

With the world seemingly going online, I think it's about time I reinstated the Drift Away blog!

As all my clients know, I love Drift Away. It's been a part of my life for twelve years and it;s been wonderful to incorporate it into my future after having left the UK.  It's great that it's come forward with me and whilst I'm unable to return and resume massages at present, once again I find the business moving forward, adapting, changing and modifying once more.  In Zen Buddhism we are always learning about flowing through life, not resisting, not expanding energy on what we can't change but simply following the natural flow, following that natural cycle.

One good thing that's come out of this lockdown is the time to refocus, spend time on long standing projects that i hadn't had the time to previously and to stop being a tech phobe! To start embracing these new ways and using them to be able to connect more with my clients from all over the world.

Many of you know that i have meditated for years....It's one of the reasons for moving to India, when it popped up in one of my Zen meditation sessions.  I've been a guided meditation instructor for 8 years but having only ever used it lightly as massage took center stage.  That was until recently as here in India we were about to start our guided meditation group until things flowed differently due to the virus.  Having completed my meditation instructor training, sat with my thoughts, it's time to begin offering the guided meditation and meditation sessions to others via an online process.

I look forward to working with my clients once again through the new opportunities coming and will be posting about them shortly.

Check out our online guided meditation on Youtube

Hi All. It's been sometime and seeing as none of us quite know what this year will bring, I thought I'd post a little on here again.
At present i would have just finished my UK trip and be heading back to India.

Hope everyone is staying well during this time and simply following the flow of it....as that is all we can really do.....

I do guided meditations and created a guided meditation specifically for this current time. Great for anyone experiencing anxiety, overwhelmed or worried not only for the future but tired of wearing a brave face.
Perhaps give it a listen before bed, first thing in the morning or anytime you want to relax. Hope it helps some people.
